Again, I've disappeared for a few months. I want to make some changes to my blog, such as appearance and posts. I'm still mulling it over, so until I figure this all out stop on by Jeri Walker-Bickett's blog and check out my guest blog post Newbie Publishing: The Highs and Lows.
I’m
trying to start a new pattern in regards to writing, revising, critiquing,
promoting, blogging, networking, working on website, freelance work, etc. For
starters, I plan to blog twice a week.
Since
it’s a dreary Monday where I’m at I thought I’d share a few funnies today.
Several years ago, I used to watch a show called Girls Behaving Badly with
Chelsea Handler. This show cracks me up, and I couldn’t imagine pulling such
pranks without laughing. They had auditions around the country, and for a split
second, I thought about it. Instead, I decided to stick with IT work, and
writing on the side.
These
shows aren’t politically correct or the funniest ones I've seen, but they are funny nonetheless. I had some problems posting the actual video, so that's why I'm left with posting links. If you are
easily offended, I suggest you not watch them. For those of you who decide to
watch, I hope it helps your Monday.
I’ve
been slacking on my blog due to life and personal matters. Summer vacation
is approaching and I’ll be spending lots of time with family and friends,
which means, I will be taking time off from blogging. I’ll be back in early
September.
I know my blog has resembled a leaky faucet but I am working on getting back into blogging.
Years…maturity…change…these play a big role in the wonderful world of friendship.
Such words you
speak, paint my heart—
colorful, sublime.
Our friendship stew,
never sharp like a dart,
grateful for its kind.
Variety sits at the table
to draw out humor
I waited so long for.
Several talks of a fable
always knew as rumor,
a late night but wish for more.
My friends, I hold on tight
to such memories of delight,
until we soar high into the white.
The last month has been trying, and I witnessed the preciousness of friendship. My friends were there for me—still here—and I can’t thank them enough for being them.
Today I start blogging on a regular basis, and tribute this day and onward to the wonderful friends I’d never want to say good-bye to. You are the epitome of what a friend is all about. So I thank you for our past, present and a wonderful future. I’m here for you.
It’s been a year since I created my blog, and I never turned back or thought twice about it after I began this journey.
I read my first blog post The Beginning of Blogging and smiled at my uncertainty of where my blog would go and if I would find a few readers.Below are things I noted in my first post, Saturday, August 16, 2008, of what I wanted out of my blog.
1) To be a part of my history
2) To connect with the world
3) Improve my writing skills
4) Find and keep an audience
After I read these items, I smiled knowing I achieved all of the above. My blog has become a part of my history, skipping stone memories of what I’ve done, where I’ve been and what is happening in the world.Within a year, I started writing and posting my poetry; promoted some friends’ books; remembered important days in our history; wrote book recommendations; traveled from Michigan, Connecticut to Germany; celebrated birthdays; posted some of my writings; entered a few contests; created a Twitter account and voted for our first African-American President (not all in that order).WHOAH!It’s pretty good for an aspiring writer to accomplish the first two points.
Then I looked at my writing, on my blog, the writing forum and Helium to see how my writing has progressed, and in my opinion, it isn’t bad.*checks off third item* I also found an audience. It might be a small one, and some might have come and gone. For those who continue reading my words, I just want to say, “Thank you for sticking with me.I’m indebted to you.”
Here’s the exciting part.To celebrate my 1-year of blog life, I’m going to give out Amazon Gift Cards through email for the first ten people who follow the below instructions. You DO NOT, I repeat, YOU DO NOT need to provide your name. I respect anonymity. If I do not get ten people to participate, then the gift card total amount will be divided up for those who do participate.
