Today is my niece’s 17th birthday, and although I just turned forty without flinching, it seems her age is affecting me. I called her early this morning on her cell phone and sang Happy Birthday. She even said, “I know, I can’t believe I’m 17 already.” I thought “You can’t believe?” I remember sitting in the hospital around 12:30 am waiting for her arrival. She was the first next generation baby in our family, and is my goddaughter. She has my sense of humor and attitude, which is why my sister always says, “I had my sister’s daughter.” It’s going to be a tough life for her. LOL! I can go on talking about taking care of her every weekend the first three years of her life, and how smart and funny she is, but I’ll save those memories for my journal. What I will say is she is beautiful, has a great personality, and is a great cheerleader and has a rocking singing voice. Happy Birthday, Nays! Have an AWESOME day! Who loves ya. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6s5cxBN8mA
On another note, I survived my travels and meeting with the AW group. It was fun even though I slowly became sicker each day to the point of having to call in sick yesterday. Along with meeting this fine group of friends, I had the opportunity to see some of the museums and my favorite is the art museum. There were jaw dropping moments in which I looked at these paintings and thought of the history and imagination these old souls possessed. It amazes me how these artists from the 16th and 17th centuries made their own pigments, and to think if they ran out, how they had to make sure the pigment matched. Such talent is truly a gift.
