The path that leads to Heaven's Garden
Isn’t for sale anymore.
Praying days, ask for pardon
He watches his soul rise and soar.
With a sold sign hung above its gate
Like Judas in the Joshua Tree,
Accepted wrongs prepared for fate
Peter smiles, says nothing is for free.
Beautiful poem! And what an awesome monument. I used to live by Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville; they have incredible statuary.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like the poem. Yes, Cave Hill has beautiful monuments. I need to look into why many used a tree as a monument; family tree, tree of life, it must have been something symbolic.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.

ReplyDeleteReally interesting monument, makes you wonder about the symbolism, the message. Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteAGAIN, BEA, YOUR POEMS ARE LOVELY TO READ! lOVES THE PIC!
ReplyDeleteOk, Bea, the tombstone tree--the broken branches represents/ indicates deceased family members; a popular monument choice for its time.
ReplyDeleteYEAH! Thanks, Kimmi. I appreciate it.
