Walls

This poem is from my published poetry eBook, Sipping a Mix of Verse.

Walls—
barriers for
ourselves
and the outside world.
Their allegiance
resides with us—
within us.
Time
challenges
by way of neglect,
loss;
cracked pieces
tossed into a
fusion sea.

Graffiti soul
stares
back—
numbed and
tortured by
death.
Gouged,
missing parts,
yet still left
standing.
We kick
away the
broken pieces,
apply patches
until the
wrecking ball
of time
takes the
entire wall
down.

Protection and Cracks,
Bea

  4. This is what I love about poetry. Just a few words paint a clear picture of the human condition. Thanks for sharing!
